Research Paper and Poster Submission Guidelines

There are 3 categories for award papers. Please note that Category [A] and [B] are only for postgraduate students.

  • [A] Dr. J.N. Pohowalla Medal (General Pediatrics)
  • [B] Dr. D.K. Shrivastava Medal (Social Pediatrics)
  • [C] Senior Residents and Young Faculty Award

Guidelines for Dr. J.N. Pohowalla Medal Contest and Dr. D.K. Shrivastava Medal Contest

  1. The complete paper along with the abstract must be submitted in soft copy within the scheduled time.
  2. The cover page must include title, authors, institute, and contact details.
  3. The identity of the investigator/institution must not be revealed elsewhere in the manuscript.
  4. The investigator must be a postgraduate student from Madhya Pradesh, and research must be conducted in Madhya Pradesh.
  5. The first author must be the principal investigator and a member of IAP.
  6. The papers shall be subjected to review by experts appointed by State IAP. Only shortlisted papers will be selected for presentation during the conference in each category. The rest will be considered for free paper/poster presentation. Each paper should have a cover page which will reflect:
    • a. Title
    • b. Author's Name
    • c. Affiliation
    • d. Conflict of Interest
    • e. Ethical Committee Approval No. (enclose copy)
    • f. Abstract - The abstract should not exceed 250 words and must follow IMRC format: Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusion.
  7. Papers should be prepared under the following heads:
    Introduction – 150–250 words along with 5–8 references in bracket form, i.e., [1].
    • a. Objectives – specific
    • b. Materials and Methods – It should include setting, type of study, sample size, specific criteria/definitions with citation, sample collection process, statistical methods, etc.
    • c. Results – It should be specific and relevant to the objectives along with tables in sequence. All tables should have a brief about results below it. Tables and figures should be in the relevant section along with citation in the text.
    • d. Conclusion – It should have 3–5 recommendations based on the study.
    • e. Implication – should be specific.
    • f. References – References should be available on electronic databases such as Google Scholar/PubMed. They should be written in Vancouver format, in sequence as they come in the text, and properly cited.
  8. Maximum 2500 words excluding abstract, tables, figures, and references
  9. The author's name or institute name should not be written anywhere other than the title page. If written within the manuscript, the committee has the right to reject the paper.

Guidelines for Senior Residents and Young Faculty Award Papers

  • It is mandatory to register for the conference for oral presentation. If still not registered, kindly register yourself on a priority basis. To register for the conference please visit: https://indoreacademyofpediatrics.com/
  • The author submitting the paper should be involved in the overall conceptualization, conduct and analysis of the research submitted for presentation.
  • The research should be approved by the respective ethical committee of the institute and a copy of the ethical approval should be enclosed.
  • The complete paper along with the abstract (styled as per Indian Pediatrics) in soft copy must be submitted within the scheduled time.
  • The cover page must include the title of the study along with names of the institute and investigators along with their contact details.
  • The identity of the investigator/institution should not be displayed anywhere else in the paper.
  • The investigator should be a senior resident or faculty in a teaching institute from M.P. and the scientific work should have been done in any institution located in M.P. (enclose a certificate from HOD).
  • The first author should be the principal investigator. He/she should be a member of IAP, and age should be <40 years (enclose IAP membership and age proof).
  • Authors of the top three papers will be asked to present their work (published or unpublished) during the conference.
  • The awardees will make a presentation of 8 minutes followed by a discussion of 2 minutes.
  • The awardees will have to hand over a brief biodata (maximum 100 words) to be introduced by the chair before presentation.

General Guidelines for Oral Presentation

  • The official language is English. All presentations must be in English.
  • Presentation should be made on Microsoft PowerPoint (Version 97/2000/2003/2007 or higher).
  • The projection will be on a single screen. There will be no capability for dual screen or simultaneous video projection on a second screen.
  • Video clips should be embedded in your PowerPoint presentation with appropriate animation commands.
  • Total time of presentation will be 10 minutes, out of which 8 minutes will be for presentation and 2 minutes for Q&A. The use of personal laptops is not allowed during oral paper presentations.
  • Please carry your PowerPoint presentation on a USB-compatible storage device. Ensure that all video clips are included in the same device. You should also share your presentation via email for easy retrieval.
  • Maximum number of slides per oral paper: 12
  • Please reach the auditorium/hall at least 15 minutes before the beginning of your session and get familiarized with the stage and lectern setting. Please meet your chairpersons before the session begins and introduce yourself.
  • Do not exceed your allotted time for presentation. Presentations exceeding the time limit may not be considered for prizes.
  • Change of presenter without the permission of the Chairman, Scientific Committee, and Chairman Award Paper Committee may not be considered for a prize.

Instructions for E-Poster Presentations for Postgraduate and Undergraduate

  • There will be E-poster awards in this category.
  • It is mandatory to register for the conference for poster presentation. If still not registered, kindly register yourself on a priority basis. To register for the conference please visit: https://indoreacademyofpediatrics.com/
  • Only undergraduate, postgraduate, senior residents, and young faculty are allowed for poster presentation.
  • Candidates need to send only the abstract (max 500 words) for poster presentation.
  • Candidates participating in poster presentation must be present physically at the time of presentation; otherwise, will not be considered for the award.
  • The time allocated for each E-Poster presentation will be 8 minutes. There will be 2 additional minutes for questions and discussions.
  • Title Font size >12
  • Author's Font size 11; presenting Author's name first.
  • Font style: Arial, Calibri, Verdana, Times New Roman, or Helvetica
  • Text to be typewritten in black ink using font size 10, single space; number of words not to exceed 250.
  • Abstract title – Limited to 20 words in UPPER CASE
  • The E-poster will be displayed on a standard 42″ LCD.
  • File format should be PowerPoint (.PPT / .PPTX)
  • Total size of the presentation should not exceed 5 MB.
  • Only 1 slide per poster.
  • Animation / movies / sounds will not be supported; please submit in a static required template format only.
  • Images and tables: at least 200 dpi. Good picture quality is essential.
  • When saving your PPT please do not use symbols or special characters (i.e. + / @ / u) in the file name.
  • The poster should be prepared under the following headings:
    • a) Introduction
    • b) Objectives
    • c) Materials and Methods
    • d) Results
    • e) Conclusion
